NCMP-05. RARE CASE OF INTRAMEDULLARY SPINAL CORD METASTASIS AND CANCER-RELATED STROKE SECONDARY TO NASOPHARYNGEAL CARCINOMA

Abstract INTRODUCTION Central nervous system (CNS) metastasis from nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is rare and presents with high morbidity mortality. As a entity, few patients CNS NPC have been reported, no studies were available on treatment prognosis. Based our clinical experience, early diagnosis incorporation of clear palliative plan imperative in providing holistic care for locally-invasive metastatic carcinoma. CASE REPORT Our study reports case 48-year-old Filipino male known Stage IVB who developed acute symptoms constipation, urinary retention, bilateral lower limb weakness numbness. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed intramedullary lesions multiple segments the spinal cord. Steroid radiotherapy spine initiated noted transient improvement motor strength. Subsequently, he cancer-related stroke. The patient progressively deteriorated despite best medical care. To knowledge, this fourth cord reported worldwide but first one Philippines.
